What is the Inmec Model P6?

The Model P6 is a digital microwave sensor for continuous Brix, total solids and density measurement in 6″ process pipelines. It measures the flowing product directly in the line, without bypass loops or sample extraction.

Where is the Model P6 used?

In sugar mills the Model P6 is used in main evaporator circulation lines, connections between evaporator effects, high-capacity syrup transfer and crystallizer feed streams. It is also used in high-volume juice and concentrate production, main milk and whey processing lines, and large chemical transfer, reactor circulation and blending lines.

Does the Model P6 measure suspended solids as well as dissolved solids?

Yes. The Model P6 measures total solids, both dissolved and suspended, across the flowing product. This suits opaque, viscous and coating-prone streams and slurries, where optical sensors that measure only dissolved solids at a prism surface struggle.

Does coating or buildup affect the Model P6 measurement?

No. The digital microwave measurement extends into the product volume, so the signal stays stable when coating or buildup on the sensor surface is part of normal operation.

Which Inmec pipeline sensor size should I choose?

Choose the model that matches the pipe size: the P2 fits 2″ (DN50), the P4 4″ (DN100), the P6 6″ (DN150), the P8 8″ (DN200) and the P10 10″ (DN250) industrial process pipelines, all with a flanged fitting. For sanitary lines of 1.5–3″ (DN40–DN80) with a Tri-Clamp connection, use the Model P-TC, and for tanks and vessels the Model IL. All use the same digital microwave measurement.

How is the Model P6 installed?

The Model P6 installs directly in a 6″ (DN150) pipeline with a flanged process fitting. The pipe must run full, and a process pressure of at least 1.5 bar is recommended to avoid free air at the sensor.

Does the Model P6 need a separate transmitter?

No. All signal processing takes place in the sensor itself. It provides 4–20 mA outputs for total solids and temperature, active and isolated, with a maximum load of 750 Ω, directly to the PLC or DCS.

What are the measurement range and accuracy of the Model P6?

The measurement range is 0–95 % Brix or total solids, factory configured to the customer’s specific total solids or density range. Accuracy and repeatability are ±0.01 % concentration, sensitivity is ±0.001 % and measuring resolution is 0.01 %.

What process conditions does the Model P6 handle?

The Model P6 operates at pH 3–14 and 0–140 °C, with an AISI 316L sensor body. A process pressure of at least 1.5 bar is recommended to avoid free air at the sensor.

What warranty does the Model P6 have?

The Model P6 comes with a 3-year warranty, reflecting its long-term stability in continuous industrial operation.
