What is the Inmec Model IL-TC?
The Model IL-TC is a digital microwave in-tank sensor for continuous Brix, total solids and density measurement with a 4″ Tri-Clamp process fitting. It is designed for stabilizing tanks, blending tanks and evaporators in food and beverage processing.
Where is the Model IL-TC used?
Typical applications are blending and mixing control, Brix stabilizing, evaporator monitoring and control, and fermentation feed in food and beverage production, as well as batch control and quality monitoring in sugar and industrial tanks.
Does fruit pulp or coating affect the IL-TC measurement?
No. The IL-TC measures total solids, both dissolved and suspended, in the product volume, so fruit particles are part of the reading rather than a disturbance. Normal coating on the sensor surface does not affect the signal. Juice processors use it in blending tanks through multiple CIP cycles per day.
What is the difference between the IL-TC, IL-G and Model IL?
All three are in-tank sensors with the same digital microwave measurement. The IL-TC uses a 4″ Tri-Clamp fitting, the IL-G a flush GEA Varivent connection for sanitary tanks, and the Model IL a Union-L coupling with a weld ferrule for industrial tanks, vessels and large pipelines.
How is the Model IL-TC installed?
The IL-TC installs directly in the vessel wall or a top nozzle with a 4″ Tri-Clamp connection and does not need a bypass or recirculation loop.
Does the Model IL-TC need a separate transmitter?
No. All signal processing takes place in the sensor itself. It provides 4–20 mA outputs for total solids and temperature, active and isolated, with a maximum load of 750 Ω, directly to the PLC or DCS.
What are the measurement range and accuracy of the Model IL-TC?
The measurement range is 0–99 % Brix or total solids, factory configured to the customer’s specific total solids or density range. Accuracy and repeatability are ±0.01 % TS, sensitivity is ±0.001 % TS and measuring resolution is 0.01 % TS.
What process conditions does the Model IL-TC handle?
The IL-TC operates at pH 3–11 and 0–140 °C, with an AISI 316L sensor body. A process pressure of at least 1.5 bar is recommended to avoid free air at the sensor.
Can the IL-TC be used for batch correction?
Yes. A continuous 4–20 mA Brix and temperature signal from the tank lets the control system dose, dilute and correct each batch automatically instead of waiting for lab samples.
